Each Wednesday this month, I have been featuring a little idea I like to call "DIY Dinners" (do it yourself dinners). These are great time-savers for mom, and the the whole family has fun in the kitchen creating their very own "culinary masterpieces".
This week I wanted to show you one of my favorites, Salad and Baked Potato Bar. This certainly is not a new concept, these have been around for years in restaurants, so why not re-create one at home? Besides being totally easy, it is healthy too!
First, bake up a bunch of potatos...so easy!
Next, prepare an assortment of toppings for your salad and baked potatos, whatever you have on hand will work!
We had: grated cheddar cheese, bacon bits, chives, carrots, onions, cherry tomatos, sour cream, croutons, as well as butter, salt and pepper and a variety of salad dressings.
Finally, set out a large bowl of salad greens and let everyone have fun making their own dinner! We served it buffet-style like at a restaurant, but it works great served on the dinner table as well.
This dinner is easy, healthy and delicious and I hope you give it a try sometime!
